Keeping My Mind and Body Fit.
It’s common knowledge amongst those in my inner circle how important health, fitness and wellness is to me, how much time I devote to it every week, and how central of a role it plays in my everyday life.
People who meet me often comment on how fit and toned my body is, and they like to ask me what I do to maintain it, and so I thought I’d share them with you in this blog post! :)
Gym routine:
Minimum 3x a week
Strength training:
-Deadlifts with 15-20kg weights
-Kettle bell swings
-Core workouts with a weighted ball
-Reformer Pilates classes
Cardio:
-Current fave: 12-20 minutes on the StairMaster on a set program with varying speeds
-Past fave: 30-40 minutes on the Elliptical machine on an intense, walking up a hill setting
Mental wellness routine:
-Getting enough Vitamin D from the sun by suntanning lots (with sunscreen applied)
-Staying away from the news, consuming too much social media or engaging in negativity or gossip
-Keeping my social circle small and tight, but high-quality
-10-20minute meditation first thing in the morning
I usually go on Youtube and search for a Gratefulness or Drop Into Your Body themed meditation
-Frequent walks to the park and visits to green spaces
-Regular therapy with a qualified clinicial psychologist/therapist
(It might take a while to find one that suits you and your needs, but it is so worth it when you finally find someone who really understands you, and who you feel safe with to begin unpacking your baggage with.
It’s okay, we all have them~)
Yoga (I’ve been practicing for nearly 6 years now, it’s absolutely central to my wellness and fitness practice)
-Vinyasa Flow and Yin practice, 2-3 times a week
I’m already an ad-hoc yoga teacher to some of my clients who need it.
And honestly? A lot of you really need it…
I also try to stretch daily, even on days when I’m not at the gym.
All things in life is about balance, and your health is no different. Your body must be kept strong and well, and so must your mind, in order for you to feel and look your best.
The mental wellness part of this post is actually more important than you think it is, because without mental wellness, physical wellness is unlikely to take you very far.
I simply adore all things to do with fitness and health and levelling up in life, so if this is something you’d like to explore together and incorporate in our sessions, I’m all for it.
Wishing you nothing but good energy on your path to being well and fit. ✨
